Springtime in Gilbert

I would love to capture today's weather and bottle it up in a jar, only to be opened in the midst of a terribly hot summer day.  We had a wonderful breeze, beautiful blue skies and lovely sunshine...

Sloane's Aunt Cold invited us over for a picnic in the park and we couldn't resist:

Why say it when you can wear it?

Our family is notorious for wearing our thoughts on our clothing.  On many occasions, I am having to censor Daddy on what he is wearing...for example, should you really wear "See You At My Intervention" when we are meeting with our wedding officiant?!  How about "Swindle & Schister, Attorney's-at-Law" staying home when you meet with our CPA...

Sloane has already jumped on the bandwagon of thought provoking t-shirts:  Mommy's Wild Child, Daddy's Little Princess, My Auntie Loves Me, etc.  We found a t-shirt and cap duo that pretty much sums up our thoughts.

Yes, "I Was Worth The Wait" is completely the truth.  Happy 7-month Birthday, Sloane Victoria!!!

Lover's Day

Hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day.  We slept in and are feeling much better.  Mommy is hoping this might be the last night of the humidifier in my room, but I'll be the boss of that.  =)

Happy Valentine's Day Eve

Since her mommy loves all things red and anything with a heart on, Miss Dahl has too many outfits for just one Valentine's Day.  We must celebrate the eve of Valentine's Day, the eve of the eve of Valentine's Day, etc.

Scared eyes... no more?

First time she came over, John's cousin, Elyssa, told me she loved the scared baby stage.  Being a new mom, I had no idea what she was talking about and definitely did not know I, too, would become a lover of this stage.  The slightest noise, peculiar sound, quick move and Sloane freezes up with huge eyes and arms that go straight out.

The only downside to this hysterical "past time" is when it comes to taking pictures.  If I have a flash on the camera, all you are going to see are the whites of her eyes.  I have tried to capture her ever-changing eye color, but only get shocked eyes....until today.

She's working really hard on this

 Someday she'll fly away....

Hahahahaha

Mama Llama? Try Mama's llama

I love the stories of Mama Llama and her child, going to the grocery store, running errands, just a normal familial situation.  What they fail to showcase is the llama's amazing ability to spit...with a fabulous talent, such as this, where is this missing storyline?

Our sweet angel has learned to spit.  It started with an innocent "Pffffff", rolled into a medley of "Pfffff" "Pffff" "Pffff" and has progressed to an attack of said llama, ie Sloane.  On Christmas Day, I was trying to get Sloane to talk to me and she sprayed a lovely array of spit all over my face.  I had forgotten about the incident until later on in the day when my sister asked Jocelyn what her favorite part of Christmas was.  Her answer?  "When Sloane spit all over Aunt Jen's face."  Super proud moment...

We were at a baby shower, last weekend, and Sloane was trying to chat it up with the ladies.  We heard a couple of sighs, a couple of screeches, then "hactowie".  My baby launched a spit bubble at an unsuspecting woman.  I could tell she definitely felt the prize as she looked around, bemused that a baby was her attacker.  Sloane must have been impressed with the woman's reaction and continued to shower the shower guests.

Tonight, the onslaught continued.  We aren't sure if the baby has a cold or is getting ready to finally produce a tooth; either which way, she was not feeling well.  In the midst of her fussing, she covered her parents in spit.

She needs to come with a warning label - CAUTION:  SOAK ZONE.

Yikes!

Holy guacamole!  I thought I last posted 21 January and it turns out it has almost been an exact month since I have posted.  My bad...

Sloane has discovered so many treasures that John and I cannot stop laughing / giggling / smiling / beaming...  Here is a list of our favorites:

  1. Our doggie, Carrera.  Anytime she is in the room, Sloane only has eyes for her.
  2. Her arms.  She flops them all around; almost as if she were having a tantrum.  (Perhaps a tell tale of what we will endure / experience as she gets older?!)
  3. Food.  Our daughter is quite the baby of many expressions whilst eating.  She does not care for rice cereal.  Hates green beans.  Can handle squash.  Dislikes carrots.  Likes sweet peas.  The scrunching of her face, the horrified mouth, the flaring nose....  I will have to find the video of her first food(s) and download.  (I am only four posts behind schedule.)
  4. Her socks.  As quick as the child leans down, she snaps up the sock and has inserted it into her mouth.  Once her parents, with their turtle like reflexes, snatch back the sock and place it back on the naked foot, the child has been gnawing on her other sock for a few drooly moments.
  5. Rolling.  The easiest way to roll over is from front to back.  Come on, think about it, raise your feet sky high and inevitably gravity will pull those legs to one side, setting you up for the roll.  My kiddo can roll from back to front - picture the legs, pretzeling about, with the arm straight up in the air, trying to pull the body over.  We have yet to get her to roll in a full 360, but we are working on it.
  6. Sighing.  I do believe the best damned way to be woken in the morning is by a little one sighing.  The hardest thing to not do was get caught waking John and sneaking in to watch the little one.  I absolutely love the expanding vocal skills of our munchkin:  cooing, spitting, screeching and sighing.  I am sure "Mama" is next.  Don't you think?
